Tips for Safely Packing the Items You’re Shipping

Are you in the midst of preparing for a big move? Maybe you have a date booked on your calendar and want to take a few steps toward making the day run smoothly. At General Partition Company, Inc., we help customers with a wide range of packing and shipping needs.

We provide chipboard layer pads and box partitions for those who want to maximize safety when packing fragile items. We carry corrugated and SBS partitions, too. Our mission is to help you pack your belongings as safely as possible. Here are a few tips to help you pack your items for the big moving day:

1. Don’t rush.

One of the best ways to ensure that all of your fragile items are packed safely is by setting aside a significant amount of time for packing. When it comes to moving fragile items, you want to give yourself plenty of time because being rushed or hurried is more likely to result in broken items.

We’ve all been in moving situations where we have time constraints, and it can be tempting to just toss the remaining belongings in a box and hope for the best. But if you want your personal possessions to arrive at the new place safely, then set aside enough time for proper packing.

2. Use quality packing materials.

You don’t need to spend a fortune on moving supplies. But you do need to have a few dependable tools to facilitate the process. It’s best to stock up on sturdy cardboard boxes in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Get your hands on some tape and scissors, as well. It’s always better to end up with extra packing materials than it is to find yourself short on supply when moving day arrives. If you have a few friends that can help, ask them to grab a few boxes and help you out on moving day, too.

3. Try vertical packing.

When packing plates, slide each on inside the box vertically. Use small to medium sized boxes that are lined with packing paper. Use layer pads between each plate to avoid chipping or breaking.

Also, don’t forget to wrap fragile items individually and place the heaviest items on the bottom of the box. To learn more about packing items safely, contact us at 1-888-501-4685.
